Seattle Seahawks Make WR Move Amid Injury Issues

The Seattle Seahawks added another body to their wide receiver group on Wednesday, signing undrafted free agent Kyre Duplessis as training camp injuries begin to thin out the depth chart.

The move came after the team waived running back Kenny McIntosh earlier in the week, opening a roster spot that Duplessis filled the same day he worked out for the club.

Duplessis arrives in Seattle with a short NFL résumé and a productive final college season behind him. He spent four years at Coastal Carolina before transferring to Delaware for the 2025 campaign. Once he landed with the Blue Hens, his numbers climbed sharply.

He finished with 60 receptions for 824 yards and five touchdowns over 13 games, earning first-team All-Conference USA honors in the process. His standout performance came against UConn, when he hauled in nine catches for 161 yards in a 44-41 overtime victory that marked Delaware’s first win over an FBS opponent after joining Conference USA.

Beyond his receiving production, Duplessis showed value on special teams. He returned three punts for 73 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown against FIU, and handled a pair of kickoff returns as well.

That experience could prove useful in a Seahawks room where special-teams contributions often decide the final roster spots. Pro Football Focus data from his final college season noted only four drops along with seven contested catches on 18 opportunities, and he also graded out well as a run blocker relative to receivers outside the Power Four conferences.

The Lions gave Duplessis his first professional opportunity when they signed him as an undrafted free agent on June 4. He stayed through mandatory minicamp before Detroit waived him on June 18 while reshaping the back end of its receiver group. Seattle brought him in for a workout Wednesday alongside four other players and signed him that same afternoon.

The timing of the addition is notable. Jake Bobo left Monday’s practice with a leg injury, and Irvin Charles has missed multiple sessions after getting banged up on Sunday.

With the top of the depth chart locked in behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Rashid Shaheed, the competition for the remaining spots has grown more fluid.

Bobo had established himself as a reliable contributor over three seasons in Seattle, particularly on special teams, while Charles arrived from the Jets in May in exchange for a conditional 2028 seventh-round pick. Sixth-round pick Emmanuel Henderson Jr., a first-team All-Big 12 return specialist out of Kansas, also factors into the mix.

Duplessis now steps into that competition with recent college production and meaningful special-teams snaps already on his résumé.

Making the 53-man roster from a late-July signing remains a long shot, yet the Seahawks needed another available receiver as injuries tested the group. Duplessis enters with enough film and return experience to make the opportunity one worth monitoring as camp continues.
