Seattle Seahawks Make Yet Another Trevon Diggs Announcement

The Seattle Seahawks elevated cornerback Trevon Diggs from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday, restoring the veteran to game-day eligibility just one day after releasing him.

The move, confirmed by the club ahead of Sunday night’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, followed a sequence of transactions that first removed Diggs from the 53-man roster on Friday and then returned him to the practice squad the same afternoon.

Diggs, a former All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Dallas Cowboys, has spent much of the 2026 season on the fringes of Seattle’s secondary.

He signed with the Seahawks in August, was released during final roster cuts, and re-signed to the practice squad.

After an elevation in Week 4 against the Chargers, the team signed him to the active roster on October 10 when rookie cornerback Julian Neal was placed on injured reserve.

Across three appearances, Diggs logged roughly 21 defensive snaps and recorded one tackle, mostly in limited duty behind starters Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe.

Friday’s release cleared a roster spot that Seattle used in part to promote wide receiver and special-teams contributor Irvin Charles from the practice squad.

Because Diggs is a vested veteran, he was not subject to waivers and could be re-signed immediately to the practice squad, preserving his availability without occupying a permanent 53-man spot.

The maneuver also expanded the club’s options under league rules that limit standard practice-squad elevations, allowing Seattle to bring up additional players for the Chiefs game while keeping Diggs in the building.

Saturday’s elevation returns Diggs to the active roster on a temporary basis for Week 7. Official team announcements listed him alongside linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo as the two practice-squad players called up for the contest.

The decision keeps an experienced outside corner on hand as depth, even as Seattle’s secondary has relied primarily on its established starters.

Diggs’ ball skills remain a noted strength, though limited short-area quickness has constrained his role in man coverage.

For Diggs, the rapid sequence of release, practice-squad return, and elevation underscores the fluid nature of late-season roster management.

At 28, the former Alabama standout continues to navigate a career that peaked with an 11-interception season in 2021 before knee issues and reduced playing time followed.

Whether the elevation leads to snaps against the Chiefs or simply provides contingency remains a game-day decision, but the transactions ensure he stays within the Seahawks organization for the immediate future rather than entering free agency.
