The only quarterbacks that are on the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster at the moment are Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson. As a result, the team is searching for their next starter.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon, he outlines what he believes is every NFL team's dream scenario on day one of the 2025 NFL Draft. For the Steelers, he suggests that a certain star college quarterback could possibly drop to the middle of the first round.
"An epic slide for (Shedeur) Sanders cannot be ruled out if the Browns, Raiders and Saints pass in the top 10," Gagnon writes. "Teams could be thinking about next year's class, and the Giants and Jets have committed to other guys. If Sanders drops into the middle of Round 1, the Steelers ought to consider a trade-up and a swing of the bat."
While it may be wishful thinking to say that Shedeur could drop out of the top 10, there is a scenario where it could happen.
Sanders finished his senior season at Colorado with just over 4,100 yards, 41 total touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions. He also holds the all-time career completion percentage in college football at 71.8 percent through just over 900 attempts.
While it is likely that one of the teams in the top five will draft Sanders, the Steelers could consider trading up if he falls farther than that.
