Shedeur Sanders has gone through a rough patch ever since Todd Monken decided to name Deshaun Watson the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback hoped to lead the Browns in 2026 after starting seven games during the 2025 season. But things haven’t gone according to plan as he has seen little game time through the first four games of the 2026 season.
While sitting on the sidelines, Sanders has continued to grab headlines off the field, as trade rumors have surrounded him. The reports have been contradictory, but the attention surrounding Sanders is undeniable. Jeremy Fowler reported that the Browns would be open to trading Sanders or Dillon Gabriel for the right price, but Daryl Ruiter has pushed back on that claim.
Sanders, however, has continued to prepare for his next opportunity despite the uncertainty surrounding his role. Despite not starting any games this season, Sanders continues to attract attention off the field.
The most recent example of that was his photo shoot and interview with Cosmopolitan. The Browns quarterback gave an engaging interview, discussing a variety of topics, including personal goals, love, WAGs etc.
One of the more heartfelt answers from the interview was when asked how he believes the world sees him. Sanders said, “I wish people understood me more as a human being. I don’t think a lot of people really know me. I’m just now starting to understand that.”
“It’s not something I’m going to put [solely] on myself, but I do want to fix that. I want to connect with more people, so they can meet me and see the truth,” he added. Following the interview, his mom gave him a nickname in a comment on his Instagram post, calling him “Debonair,” a word that describes someone who is confident and charming.
Sanders’ professionalism on and off the field is something younger generations can learn from. While things have not gone his way, he has continued to handle the situation without any fuss.
