Shedeur Sanders already faced a challenge in making the final roster of the Cleveland Browns, and now the former Colorado star could have an even more difficult challenge after new legal troubles emerged.
Sanders came under fire after a report this week that he was cited for driving 101 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour speed zone. A new report on Thursday indicated that this was not the first time the rookie quarterback was given a citation, with Sanders skipping court the first time.
As ESPN reporter Brad Stainbrook noted, Sanders was also pulled over by Ohio State Patrol in Medina County on June 6, though his speed was not listed. He also failed to appear in court earlier this week, Stainbrook added.
Cory Kinnan of USA Today's Browns Wire noted that this "is not an optimal situation for a Day 3 rookie who is not a lock to make Cleveland's 53-man roster" and added that Sanders could be digging himself a big hole.
"With two veterans and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel all currently getting first-team reps ahead of him, this is not the way to win over the trust of the coaching staff and organization," Kinnan wrote. "Sanders has reportedly been a standout on the field, but this lack of judgment could cause him to take a hit in the race for QB1 in Cleveland."
