Shedeur Sanders issues candid apology to media

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is right in the middle of a QB competition, and he hasn’t been giving the media much to work with during recent press conferences.

On Wednesday, Sanders spoke to reporters, and he apologized for his actions two weeks ago when he provided nothing but short answers to the media.

“I want to apologize for how things (went) the last time I came up here. I dislike when there’s a lot of separation and when something gets between the team and people get painted a certain way…that’s where I get frustrated and shut down…just doesn’t help us win,” Sanders said.

Right now, the QB battle in Cleveland is between Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Sanders was mocked earlier in minicamp for an embarrassing throw, and Watson has been viewed as the favorite and the leader for the time being.

As a rookie, Shedeur Sanders threw for 1,400 yards with 7 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 8 games, as Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel also started games. Watson missed 2025 with another injury, but he has been working hard to return and be ready for Week 1.

The Browns face the Chicago Bears on Saturday in their first preseason game, and it will be worth watching to see how much Sanders and Watson play.
