The NFL dream isn’t over for Shilo Sanders just yet.
Sanders worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, according to the NFL wire. This is his first workout since he was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the preseason. Sanders had been ejected for throwing a punch in the Bucs’ preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. He got cut the day after his ejection. On top of that, he ended up fined.
There was talk that Sanders might consider a new career after being dropped by Tampa Bay, but at least he is still getting a look from another NFL team a few weeks into the regular season.
Shilo, 25, was not selected in the NFL Draft this year but signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent. The safety had 67 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries and two passes defended in the 2024 season while playing for his father Deion’s Colorado Buffaloes.
Shilo was one of three defensive backs the Niners worked out on Tuesday. The others were Brandon Joseph and Jaylen Mahoney. Cornerback Renardo Green is day-to-day for the Niners. The team has some other big injuries with Nick Bosa out for the season.
