After a six-year college football career with stints at South Carolina, Jackson State and Colorado, safety and son of Deion Sanders, Shilo Sanders, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
His tenure with Tampa Bay didn't last long, as he was cut just one day after the team's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, after he punched an opposing player.
Although his father recently confirmed that the 25-year-old rookie may decide to pursue a career in acting, a second crack at an NFL career may have presented itself for the former Colorado standout.
As reported on Tuesday by CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, Sanders worked out with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday.
"The 49ers worked out free agent DB Shilo Sanders today," wrote Jones. "Sanders, an undrafted rookie, was with the Buccaneers in the preseason."
After he was cut, Sanders released a YouTube video saying he'd stay in shape with hopes of getting another chance, but would also look into acting, modeling and music
"I feel like in every athlete's life it becomes a point to where the game ends for you and I'm not saying that's what it is now, I'm just saying mentally I'm good cause I know that I got a lot of talents and I've been blessed," Sanders said. "Basically, every athlete comes to this point to where you find yourself without the game of football and then you thinking about what can you do next? What now? And I'm thankful for my family and my friends and just my support system.
"I've been cool, I've been good. The NFL ... they call it not for long league, nothing's ever certain, even if you make the team, it's not certain, so you always want to not really have a backup plan, but you always want to have other interests that you're interested in. You know I've always done that my whole life, playing football. But music, acting, modeling ... I'm well versed and my parents made sure of that."
It's unclear at this time when Sanders will find out if he made the team.
