In a wild Week 1 Monday Night Football finish on September 8, 2025, Chicago Bears wideout DJ Moore went down hard after a brutal grab and hit. He managed to walk off after getting checked on the sidelines, but as players exchanged handshakes postgame, Moore suddenly went down again, and four staffers sprinted over to help.

Bears Face Early Setback as DJ Moore Collapses Post-Hit

The hit occurred during a catch from rookie QB Caleb Williams. Moore’s stat line: 3 receptions on 5 targets for 68 yards. Missing players hurts the Bears, just last month they lost CB Zah Frazier for the 2025 season.

Moore hauled in three of five targets for 68 yards before absorbing the vicious hit that might linger into coming weeks. The hit knocked him to the turf. He lay writhing in pain until medical staff arrived. After being evaluated on the sidelines, he managed to walk back under his own strength. Cameras captured his discomfort as he returned to action. Yet once the game ended, a photograph from the stands showed him collapsing again during post-game exchanges. Four personnel rushed in immediately.

This raises concerns ahead of Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. The Bears aim to avoid starting 0-2. That’s a historically difficult hole to climb from. Moore, although not the primary target in Ben Johnson’s offense, remains key to keeping defenses honest for Caleb Williams. A lingering rib issue could derail his early-season role. His absence or limited effectiveness could shift defensive attention and disrupt the Bears’ offensive balance.
