Son of SB-winning HC among 3 rumored NY Jets OC candidates

With Aaron Glenn seemingly closing in on the New York Jets’ head coaching job, all eyes are turning toward New York’s search for an offensive coordinator. Three names have already emerged, according to reports.

The most well-known among the three is Klint Kubiak, son of former Super Bowl-winning head coach Gary Kubiak. According to Zack Rosenblatt, Kubiak is “in the mix” to be the Jets’ OC under Glenn, and is also in consideration for the Seattle Seahawks’ OC vacancy.

Kubiak is currently the New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator, although he is expected to leave as the Saints search for a new head coach.

He’s also in the mix for the Seattle OC job. Spent 2024 calling plays for the Saints.

Alongside Kubiak, the Jets are rumored to be interested in Scott Turner and Nick Caley for their OC vacancy, according to Connor Hughes.

Turner, 42, was the Las Vegas Raiders’ passing game coordinator over the past two seasons (2023-24). He was promoted to interim offensive coordinator in November after the firing of Luke Getsy. Before coming to Las Vegas, Turner spent three seasons as the Washington Commanders’ offensive coordinator under Ron Rivera (2020-22).

Caley, 41, is the Los Angeles Rams’ tight ends coach and passing game coordinator. He joined the Rams as their tight ends coach in 2023 and added passing game coordinator responsibilities in 2024. Prior to joining the Rams, Caley spent eight seasons with the New England Patriots (2015-22), where he served as an offensive assistant, tight ends coach, and fullbacks coach.

With a defensive-minded coach atop their staff, it will be essential for the Jets to find a quality offensive coordinator to spearhead the offensive side of the ball. Robert Saleh’s inability to solve the OC position ultimately doomed his tenure in New York despite two years of top-notch defensive success. Glenn must nail his first OC hire to avoid the same fate.
