Sooners 2026 commit is already helping Oklahoma win in the best way possible and he's not even on campus yet

The Oklahoma Sooners have had to change one of their visit dates for an official visit for a recruit that they really want. But it's not for any bad reason. Instead, it's to help land the kid earlier, and it's all at the expense of a guy they've already landed.

The Sooners are getting help from a recruit who hasn't even stepped foot on campus as a student or player yet, and that has to make them feel like they've made the right decision.

According to Rivals, the Sooners' newest commit, Brian Harris, who literally just committed last week, just moved his official visit from June 6 to June 20. He did this in order to help recruit uncommitted DE Jake Kreul, the nation’s No. 2 defensive end, to Oklahoma.

Harris was okay with doing this because he's already committed and knows he will be attending OU, while Kreul still needs some time. Getting him on campus earlier, before other visits to other schools, will only allow the Sooners to get an earlier impression to him.

Jake Kreul is a four-star edge rusher in the class of 2026, playing for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, after transferring from Bishop Moore High School in Orlando. At 6’3” and 235 pounds, he’s a dominant defensive end. He's a guy that schools could see being a versatile player at the next level and could see developing into a star, and possibly a high pick in the NFL Draft.

Over 40 college programs, including Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Texas, and Colorado, are recruiting him. Kreul has narrowed his list to 12 schools—Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M—and plans to commit before his senior year.

Now, the Sooners have a shot at getting their name higher on his list, which, make no doubt about it, would be huge for Oklahoma. And, Harris, who may end up playing the exact same position and compete against Kreul for playing time, is helping land the kid. That's huge, and just says a lot about who Harris is.

Hopefully, Kreul sees that, too, and sees that the Sooners obviously really want him, and they obviously really want to win.
