St. Michael Catholic’s wide receiver, Brody Jones announced his commitment to South Alabama on Thursday.

Jones is the Jaguars’ sixth in-state 2026 commit.

The Jaguars’ coaching staff and the location of the university played a major role in Jones choosing to stay close to home.

“The recruiting process the entire time was honest,” Jones told the Touchdown Alabama. “The coaching staff maintained communication and built a relationship with me. They kept it real from the beginning.”

Jones has faith in the Jaguar regime and what they are building. Paul Petrino, South Alabama’s wide receiver coach, has led its push for the in-state recruit.

“Coach (Paul) Petrino is a great Coach,” said Jones. “I just feel I can learn a lot from the way he coaches.”

Last season, Jones registered 104 catches for 1,581 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The new South Alabama commit feels he can consistently put up those numbers with Gunner Rivers at the helm and Philip Rivers calling plays.

“The offense is run like a college offense,” Jones said. “We have a hall of famer as a head coach and a talented quarterback throwing to me. It makes it easier on myself and everyone around me.”
