Steel City Underground hand selects the ‘Steelers Hit of the Week’, a bigtime play that shook the opponents, following every game of the 2025 NFL regular season for fans to relive.
The Pittsburgh Steelers got back on track in a big reset in their NFL Week 9 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, winning 27-20. That was due, in a major way, to the defense returning to its dominant play to the tune of six turnovers and five sacks. Alex Highsmith, who had been in a bit of a slump and dealt with injuries, led all Steelers defenders in sacks on Daniel Jones taking the “Hits of the Week” title.
Highsmith’s first sack came in the 3rd quarter after sharing snaps with T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig, and Jack Campbell throughout the game. On 1st & 10 at the IND 37, Jones took the snap from shotgun and Highsmith totally overpowered the Colts’ left tackle to make Jones pay. The sack resulted in a loss of 10 yards.

Highsmith would strike – hot – again in the 4th quarter. With 8:28 left in the game, the Colts were playing catch-up and the Steelers were trying to eliminate the possibility (PIT 25 – IND 10).

With rumors flying ahead of the trade deadline this week, Highsmith’s play on Sunday may take him off the proverbial list of targets the Steelers may offer other teams.
Highsmith finished the game with 4 total tackles (3 solo), 2 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed, and 1 QB hurry.
