The Pittsburgh Steelers have a need at wide receiver and they may be looking at a former UCF Knight to fill that role.
Gabe Davis is reportedly scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday to meet with the Steelers on Thursday, according to a post on X by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The former Jaguars wide receiver was released from Jacksonville on May 7, just one season into his 3-year $39 million contract. Davis played in nine games in 2024. He recorded 239 yards and two touchdowns in 20 receptions.
The Steelers front office probably isn't looking for that sort of production. They most likely want the player Davis was in his last stop in Buffalo.
Davis spent his first four seasons in the league with the Bills. Davis hauled in 163 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games for Buffalo, including his infamous four-touchdown performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 AFC Divisional round.

A fourth-round pick in 2020, Davis was the 10th receiver drafted into the NFL from UCF, the 42nd player in program history. Davis started in all 13 of the Knight's perfect 13-0 season as a freshman in 2017. Davis also holds the record for the most receiving yards in a season, putting up 1,241 in 2019.
If Davis does sign with Pittsburgh, it's unclear who will be throwing him the ball, as there could be several options to start at quarterback, from Will Howard to Aaron Rodgers. Nonetheless, it's a prime opportunity for Davis to resurrect his career next to DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin.
