Steelers made noteworthy offensive change during dominant win over Dolphins

The Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) produced arguably their best overall performance of the season when they earned a 28-15 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 15.

During an appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" program, former player and current analyst Manti Teʻo explained what the Steelers did differently against the Dolphins.

Are Steelers finally running Aaron Rodgers' preferred offense?

"[Monday] night was the most 11 personnel I've ever seen the Steelers run," Teʻo said, per Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot. "In the first 14 weeks of the season, they only ran 11 personnel 34 percent of the time. [Monday] night, they ran it 53 percent of the time. This is Aaron Rodgers starting to implement the game that he likes to run."

Following the victory, Rodgers said he felt Monday night "was the first time we’ve had complementary football in all three phases." Against the Dolphins, the future Hall of Fame quarterback completed 23-of-27 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. As a team, the Steelers finished with 135 rushing yards and a pair of scores on the ground.

Aaron Rodgers getting comfortable with Steelers at right time?

"This is Aaron starting to implement his offense, but still staying true to the Pittsburgh hard-nosed physical brand of football that we've been accustomed to seeing," Teʻo continued. "So I was happy to see that. It's been good to see the melding of these two offenses coming together."

Rodgers and Co. should face a more difficult test than what they dealt with in Week 15 when the Steelers play at a Detroit Lions (8-6) side that will be fighting for its playoff life in Week 16. As of Wednesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had Pittsburgh as a seven-point road underdog for that game.

Meanwhile, the 7-7 Baltimore Ravens trail the Steelers in the AFC North standings. Baltimore will host the 11-3 New England Patriots.

Depending on what happens through the end of December, the Steelers and Ravens could be headed toward a Week 18 showdown that proves to be a win-or-go-home game for both clubs.
