One Pittsburgh Steelers player is not a fan of his team potentially getting into the Aaron Rodgers business.

There have been rumblings of late that Pittsburgh is a potential landing spot for Rodgers, who recently lost his job as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback. The Steelers became the betting favorite to sign Rodgers following the news of his imminent exit from New York.

The NFL news account JPAFootball posted about the Rodgers-Steelers betting line, which caught the attention of Steelers safety DeShon Elliott. The 6-year NFL veteran made it clear in the comments that he was not in favor of the move.

“Leave his a– at the retirement home,” Elliott commented (warning: tweet contains profanity).

Rodgers could very well feel like a retread of the Russell Wilson experiment the Steelers tried last season. Pittsburgh signed a then-35-year-old Russell to a 1-year deal.

While the move worked out during the first half of the season, the wheels fell off from the Wilson hype train real quick. The Steelers won in six of Wilson’s first seven starts before losing the team lost its final five games — including their Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Last month, Steelers owner Art Rooney said that it was “very unlikely” his team brings back both Wilson and Justin Fields next season. Some members of the Steelers organization had reportedly felt like Fields, who started in place of an injured Wilson to start the season, should have been QB1 on the depth chart last year.
