Steelers Practice Report: Fautanu at RT, Rookie Camp Leaders

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers rookies gathered together for their first practice session of rookie camp 2024 on Friday, and Alan Saunders and Nick Farabaugh of Steelers Now where there to get all the news, as Troy Fautanu took his first steps at right tackle, and Zach Frazier and Payton Wilson emerged as young leaders in the rookie class.

Alan and Nick gave their initial takeaways from Friday’s first practice session, and also broke down the potential positional alignments for third-round wide receiver Roman Wilson and undrafted free agent Beanie Bishop, who both figure to play a role for the team during the 2024 season.

The rookie minicamp roster includes the seven Steelers draft picks, five undrafted free agents, 10 first-year players from 2023 that did not dress in a game last year, and 21 tryouts, four of which are former NFL players.

The Steelers have three vacant slots on their 90-man roster they could use to sign players from rookie minicamp on tryouts. Last year, they signed two such players, running back Alfonzo Graham and outside linebacker Toby Ndukwe,
