Steelers Reveal 2024 Preseason Schedule
Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason schedule for 2024 will feature two home games and just one road game, flipping the iteration of their schedule last season. Pittsburgh will host the Houston Texans on Friday, August 9, at 7 p.m. They will follow that up by playing the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, August 17, at 7 p.m. Finally, it will all round out when they travel to Detroit to face the Lions in one final preseason. That time and date are unclear for now.

Pittsburgh faced Atlanta and Tampa Bay last season and will replace those opponents with Houston and Detroit. They faced the Bills last season at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers’ preseason schedule does require much travel, just like their regular season schedule, where they boast the fourth-fewest travel miles in the entire NFL for the season.

The Steelers will face the Falcons to open the season. With the 2024 opener in Atlanta, it will be the ninth time in the last 10 seasons that the Steelers have played a road game to begin their season. The aspect that makes this a newsworthy opening week for the Steelers is that newly-signed offensive coordinator Arthur Smith makes his return to Atlanta after being the Falcons’ head coach for the last three seasons.

The last time that the Steelers played against the Falcons was during the 2022 season. The Steelers managed to beat the Falcons, 19-16, behind a 17-yard receiving touchdown by Connor Heyward and four field goals by Matthew Wright.

The Steelers own an all-time record of 15-2-1 against the Falcons and have won the last four meetings.
