Steelers Urged to Trade for $44 Million WR, Longtime Aaron Rodgers Teammate
(Chris Pedota, NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't locked up quarterback Aaron Rodgers just yet, but bringing in one of his favorite targets could help seal the deal and fill a roster need in one fell swoop.

Wide receiver Allen Lazard went undrafted out of Iowa State University in 2018, signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars that offseason before ultimately landing with the Green Bay Packers. He played there alongside Rodgers for five seasons before joining the QB as members of the New York Jets for the last two years.

Lazard has one year remaining on his current $44 million contract and is coming off of a 2024 campaign, in which he caught 37 passes for 530 yards and six touchdowns.

The 29-year-old isn't exactly a hot commodity, though he probably has more value to whatever team employs Rodgers than anywhere else in the league.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report recently named Lazard as the one player the Jets should attempt to trade ahead of the regular season, mentioning Pittsburgh as a logical destination for him.

"Not only is there no question that Lazard should be traded, but there’s no question where. Pittsburgh Steelers, come on down!" Davenport wrote on Monday, June 2 . "The reasoning is simple. Just about everyone expects Aaron Rodgers to eventually land in the Steel City. Rodgers likes to throw to receivers he has history with -- that’s how Lazard wound up in New York to begin with."
