Despite playing a pivotal role on the New England Patriots this past season, Stefon Diggs will have to look for a new home this offseason.

The Patriots signed Diggs to a three-year, $63.5 million contract last offseason in an effort to bolster their passing attack. The veteran wideout didn't disappoint for Mike Vrabel's squad, hauling in 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

After the Patriots lost Super Bowl LX to the Seattle Seahawks, there were rumors that Diggs could be released at the start of free agency. That seemed a bit odd considering he emerged as a go-to target for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

And yet, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday that Diggs will be cut after the start of the new league year on March 11. This move will free up $16.8 million in cap space for the reigning AFC champions.

According to Savage Sports, the Patriots wanted to restructure Diggs' contract but he wasn't interested in doing so. That report hasn't been confirmed or denied.

Who'll replace Stefon Diggs?

Now that Diggs is gone, New England will be aggressive to add another wide receiver to its roster.

CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones mentioned the Patriots as a potential suitor for Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore, who had 50 catches for 682 yards with six touchdowns this past season.

The Patriots could also call the Philadelphia Eagles to see if they're willing to part ways with A.J. Brown.

All we know for certain is New England needs a No. 1 wideout for the 2026 season.
