Stephen Ross has Killed Dolphins Football

Being a Dolphins fan has been difficult the past two decades. And a big part of the reason it has been difficult is that the Dolphins are owned by a person who has no business owning a professional sports team.

For the past two decades, the one constant through all the failure, underachieving, and all of the losing has been Stephen Ross.

Loyalty is an admirable trait, but there is a fine line between loyalty and insanity.

And this has crossed the line into insanity for this Dolphins organization.

Chris Grier was bad at his job, and bad at it for many years; it took till this Halloween for him to finally be fired.

Too little, too late, but ok, he was finally shown the door.

Why wasn’t Mike McDaniel fired at the same time?

Everything wasn’t Grier’s fault this season.

McDaniel didn’t have the team ready for Week 1 vs the Colts.

McDaniel had the team go to Cleveland and get embarrassed.

McDaniel had the team get embarrassed at home on Thursday Night football vs the Ravens.

McDaniel had the team get embarrassed in prime time on Monday Night football vs the Steelers.

And even after another season of not making the playoffs, there are still reports out there that Ross won’t fire McDaniel after this season.

Who? What?

WHY?

Stephen Ross wouldn’t let one of his real estate companies be run into the ground like this. Why is he ok letting his football team become a national joke?

And it is a joke!

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the ESPN call Monday Night, laughing at Mike McDaniel not running a hurry-up offense with the season on the line late in the game, clowning the Miami Dolphins head coach in front of the world.

Only to then, when there is little time left and the game is over, for McDaniel to then run a hurry up and call meaningless time outs like there was enough time to make a comeback.

Or go back to the Ravens game when the NFL Network was showing Dolphins fans leaving at halftime or flipping off the team on the field and screaming in disgust.

The Dolphins are a joke, and Stephen Ross seems to be ok with it, or doesn’t have the social skills to realize he is viewed as a clown, and his billion-dollar property, the Miami Dolphins, is a laughing stock.

Ross stuck with Jeff Ireland too long.

Ross hired Mike Tannenbaum and stuck with him too long.

Ross let Chris Grier run this thing so far in the ground that the Dolphins are many years from turning this around.

Ross got caught tampering not once but twice, getting himself suspended and costing the team valuable draft picks.

There was Ross selling NY Jets merchandise in the Team Pro Shop many years back.

Or Ross holding Florida Gators/Tim Tebow day when Tebow was playing against Miami about a decade ago.

The Orange Carpet.

Trying to hire Jim Harbaugh before firing Tony Soprano.

All of the goofy 1% and 2% celebrity owners.

Stephen Ross is a clown and runs this team like a circus.

Mike McDaniel is bad at his job.

Tua Tagovailoa is an awful quarterback.

At what point does Ross open his eyes and realize he is part of the problem and everything he has done up until this point hasn’t worked out, so whatever his instinct is, do the opposite.

But Ross is the ringleader of this circus, and nothing will get better until he realizes that he is the problem.

Don Shula is rolling over in his grave.

The man who came to Miami in the early 1970s and built this organization into one of the most respected in all of professional sports.

The Dolphins were the envy of damn near every NFL and non-NFL organization.

The logo represented class, winning, and they were respected.

And all of it has been flushed down the toilet by Stephen Ross and his inept management of this football franchise.

Wayne Huizenga wasn’t perfect, but Wayne at least tried to uphold Shula’s legacy and the winning.

I’m not even sure Ross even cares.

His actions make it appear he doesn’t.

And if the reports are true he is just going to promote Champ Kelly to GM and keep Mike McDaniel, then this clown show rolls on into 2026.

SPOILER ALERT: Miami will be an awful team in 2026 with a bad GM and a bad head coach.

And apparently, Stephen Ross doesn’t care.
