San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has dealt with drama throughout his football career. This includes his three years with the Florida Gators, where he was suspended multiple times for numerous reasons.

Outside of the off-field troubles, Robinson's on-field ability has shown for itself. He shined during his time at Florida , especially in his sophomore season in 2014. Since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft, Robinson has been able to stay on the field, playing at least 16 games every season.

Now, almost a decade after his last suspension at Florida, Robinson is dealing with off-field issues again.

On Wednesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR radio that Robinson has been suspended for the first three games of the 2025 NFL season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This stems from a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge last November. Robinson pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced to three years of probation, fined $390 and ordered to complete an alcohol-education program.

"You can always appeal it, so we'll hope for the best on that," Shanahan said. "But (three weeks) is what we're planning for."

Robinson joined the 49ers this offseason on a two-year, $9.5 million deal after spending the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. In his nine-year NFL career thus far, which came predominantly with the Chiefs, the 6-foot-1 wideout has caught 250 passes for 3,013 yards and 27 touchdowns.

During his three seasons at Florida, Robinson was suspended three times for failing drug tests for marijuana and once for a violation of NCAA and team rules. He had 107 receptions for 1,366 yards and nine scores with the Gators.

While he has been able to stay out of trouble thus far in the NFL, this latest suspension adds to a growing list of off-field issues surrounding Robinson throughout his career.
