Many moving pieces can dictate which team will win Super Bowl LVIII. A player’s condition, how schemes mesh against each other, and on-the-fly decisions can determine whether a team will be able to lift the Lombardi trophy.
The moon isn’t usually a part of the equation when it comes to Super Bowl wins. However, there’s one guy who believes one team is favored by the moon’s energy to win Super Bowl LVIII.
The Spun’s Andrew Gould caught sight of an X user trying to predict which team between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers would leave Allegiant Stadium as winners. The user reportedly looked at the performances of both teams under a specific moon.
It’s a fascinating–albeit useless–read for people who find astrology interesting:
The Chiefs are apparently 19-1 over the last five years under a waxing crescent moon, which will occur on the night of Feb. 11.
The 49ers are 15-15 in their last 30 games in such conditions, so the NFL might as well call the game off and give Kansas City the Lombardi Trophy now.
While Chiefs fans would take anything that would give them a chance to win another Lombardi, it’s very unlikely that the moonlight would turn Patrick Mahomes into a footballing werewolf and unleash 90-yard bombs against an elite San Francisco defense.
There’s also no shot the lunar vibes would give Christian McCaffrey an additional boost to power past Kansas City’s D-line for a 90-yard dash.
More importantly, Allegiant Stadium is domed. There’s no way for the moon to radiate its loving beam to favor one specific team (unless a fan tries to break it open).
If you’re asking which team will likely win Super Bowl LVIII, it’s more likely a matter of personal bias.
Both teams have shown through the playoffs that they have what it takes to bring home the Lombardi.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs played through the roughest conditions (freezing temps in Kansas City and hostile crowds in Buffalo and Baltimore) to make their fourth Super Bowl in five years.
Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers overcame deficits (both Green Bay and Detroit almost ran away with the game) for the chance to win the Lombardi.
The moon won’t have any effect on the results of Super Bowl LVIII. However, it would provide a nice backdrop for the winning team.
