Tampa Bay Buccaneers reveal second matchup for new throwback uniforms, and it's against the perfect opponent

The Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a similar history - at least in one sense.  Both franchises began play in 1976 as expansion franchises.  They faced off that season, with the Seahawks winning 13-10 in Tampa.  Despite it being a rough season for both teams - the Bucs went 0-14 and Seattle went 2-12 - it was an unforgettable year for both franchises.

Now, in their fiftieth seasons, both franchises will pay tribute to those first years and that first matchup.  The Buccaneers announced on Thursday that they will be wearing their new white throwback uniforms at the Seahawks on October 5 in a repeat of the "Expansion Bowl" from 1976.

Tampa Bay unveiled this week for the first time ever a white throwback uniform in a nod to the team's 50th season in 2025.  The team put out a video on their social media platforms narrated by former QB Steve Spurrier with a number of franchise legends making cameos with current players, including Ronde Barber, Mike Alstott, Simeon Rice, Derrick Brooks, and others.

This marks the first time the Bucs will wear a throwback jersey for more than one game in a season since the team first unveiled their retro look back in 2009.  Tampa Bay is taking on the Jets in the home-opener in Week 3 in the white throwbacks. They will also wear the creamsicle uniforms in their Week 15 Thursday Night Football clash with the Atlanta Falcons.
