Tanner Conner is Working to Get an Opportunity in 2025

As I was watching the latest preseason game against Detroit, I kept saying to myself,  “How about this Tanner Connor?”

This converted WR has looked pretty good in a couple of preseason games, and this is what we have been waiting for.

I just finished watching the All-22 to take a deeper look into Tanner Connor’s six catches for 48 yards, ensuring I wasn’t seeing things incorrectly.

There was a lot to like here.  First, he has a physical make-up.

He has good size for a tight end, and he can absorb a hit, and he doesn’t shy away from contact.

He stuck with his blocks, ran good routes, and made some nice catches.

He seemed to me to be bigger, faster, and more athletic than former Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe.

The options Miami has in-house to replace Jonnu Smith aren’t great.

Right now, we have no clue about the future of Darren Waller as he gets into game shape. Will we see him this week, practice or play vs Jacksonville? Seems unlikely.

Will he be ready for Week 1 of the regular season? Your guess is as good as mine.

Julian Hill currently seems to be our starter, but he is far from a finished product and is very limited in his game.

I’m sure Tanner will get plenty of playing time this week against Jacksonville.

I’m hoping Mike McDaniel will dial up a few more plays for him.

If he could get some reps with the starting offense this week, it would be nice if the starters played a series or two. However, I know that is probably unlikely given his current position on the depth chart.

For Conner, he is going into year four in Miami, and the time for him is now. If he doesn’t get playing time this year, then it probably signals his time in Miami may be over.
