There was some bad blood between Lisa McCaffrey and Taylor Swift during the weeks leading up to Super Bowl 58.
McCaffrey, the mother of San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, acknowledged this week on a podcast with Olivia Culpo, the wife of the 49ers running back, that she viewed Swift as being "dead to'' her during the Super Bowl period.
During an appearance on Culpo’s “Your Mom” podcast last February, Lisa revealed that Swift was "dead to'' her family in solidarity of her son’s Super Bowl push.
“I refuse to listen to Taylor Swift songs for the next couple days,” Lisa revealed on her daughter-in-law’s podcast. “I love her, I love the relationship, but we are boycotting any T. Swift songs. If she pops up on the radio station… nope.
"She’s dead to us this week.”
It was supposed to be sort of funny; Swifties did not necessarily take it that way.
The 49ers ended up losing the game in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs and the McCaffrey family was forced to watch Swift celebrate with the Chiefs and Kelce, her beau, after the game.
Lisa said it was painful to watch.
Dad Ed McCaffrey announced last February that the embargo on Swift's music was over. She was back in their good graces shortly after the game and the celebration were over.
“I don't know why that was such a big deal back then… I don't even remember what it was about,” Ed told Fox News. “Just to put that matter to rest, we were fans long before she was dating Travis Kelce, and I don't even remember what happened with the Super Bowl, but there are certainly no issues here in the McCaffrey family.”
