Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras is now under contract through the 2026 season thanks to the one-year, $5 million extension he signed Friday.
Staying with the Bengals was a priority for the 32-year old lineman, but staying in Cincinnati sounds like an even bigger plus in his mind.
"I love this town very much. It's been the most generous, welcoming, fun town that I've ever lived in," Karras told reporters Friday. "I've lived in 17 towns across this country, so this is my favorite one. And I'm really, really proud to be here, be a Bengal, be a part of this organization, and really doing whatever we can to go and win week 1 for the city."
Karras has become a fan favorite over the three years he's been in the Queen City. His starting of "The Cincy Hat" foundation has not only enriched the community, you can't go out downtown without seeing a ball cap with the script "Cincy." Protecting Joe Burrow about as well as a center can doesn't hurt, either.
Cincinnati and Karras are just a good fit, which is why free agency is off the table until 2027 for the veteran entering his 10th season.
"I guess if you look at the history of my career, I'm not afraid to be a free agent. I've been a free agent many times, but I really wanted to be a part of the plan here," Karras said. "And I know we're going to have big things ahead of us, so I want to be here for when we hoist that trophy."

Karras knows what it takes to "hoist that trophy" as he's done so twice in his career. His experience is part of why he was brought in three years ago, and why he's sticking around for another following this season.
Right in his favorite city to boot.
