Tempers flare, Bucky Irving can't be tackled, a UDFA makes an insane play, and more highlights from Bucs-Titans joint practice

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans held a joint practice session on Thursday and as expected, plenty of big moments happened as both teams got to go up against a player other than their own teammate(s) for the first time in training camp.

From a skirmish to big plays by star players, the joint practice session lived up to the hype. So, let's go ahead and dive into the biggest moments from Thursday's joint practice.

Both benches clear for a fight as tempers flare during Bucs-Titans joint practice

Per Pewter Report, there was an "intense" moment in practice that potentially involved Luke Goedeke and Graham Barton. Bucky Irving was eventually thrown to the ground and Baker Mayfield had to pull people away from each other. Buccaneers.com's Scott Smith reported things eventually de-escalated and didn't go further.

Coaches are adamant about avoiding fights in joint practices, so it's good that people were able to compose themselves before the situation got any worse.

"Everybody's in the skirmish - nobody wants to throw a punch. It's not necessary," Todd Bowles told reporters after training camp. "We're not trying to do that right there. They're not trying to do it as well. It's hot, you got pads on, it's gonna happen. Welcome to training camp."

"It's gonna happen and our group's not gonna back down.," Mayfield told reporters. "[When] you have guys shoving people late in the back - we're not gonna back down. We're not gonna start it because we're not stupid, but we'll finish it.

Bucky Irving looks like his usual self by juking out a Titans defender

Speaking of Irving, he flat-out juked a Titans defender during 1-on-1s and looked just like the electrifying playmaker that took the NFL by storm in 2024:

"Just confidence," Mayfield told reporters when asked what he thinks the biggest difference with Irving is in 2025. "It's not that he wasn't confident last year, [he 's] just a little bit more outgoing. [It's] not that he's ever going to be a vocal guy, but [he 's] just a little bit more outgoing. You know, guys understand what he's going to get done. And he's, he's extremely confident in the blitz pickup and the things that we've needed him to progress in. It's been a fun progression to see."

Irving is primed for a big year in 2025. If the second-year back can improve his pass protection to where he can stay on the field for third downs then he can easily place himself in the conversation of the NFL's Top-5 backs by the end of the year.

The Titans get an up-close taste of the Emeka Egbuka Experience

Egbuka just continues to look more and more like a bonafide star as training camp rolls on.

Per reports, he looked great against the Titans and those on site were able to grab some video of two huge catches from the rookie wideout.

Egbuka's development is vital for the Bucs' passing attack. Sure, the ceiling is much higher with Chris Godwin in the fold, but the fact Egbuka can play across the offense allows the passing game to march on as planned. The Bucs don't have to try and fit any square pegs in round holes or change any principles/philosophies and that's a big deal.

J.J. Roberts makes an incredible interception

Roberts has been one of the bigger talking points of camp. He's been flying around and using his athleticism and intelligence to make big plays all over the field. He's caught the eye of several coaches and his teammates.

He came away with what easily would've been a highlight-reel-worthy interception at one point during practice. As a rookie UDFA trying to win a roster spot that's surrounded by tough competition, it was the perfect embodiment of perseverance, as Roberts never gave up on the play and came away with the INT as a result:

Per FOX Sports' Greg Auman, he almost came away with another spectacular interception later in practice. It's a tight competition behind Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tykee Smith, but Roberts can make a big argument for why he belongs on the 53 if he continues to make plays like this over the next couple of weeks.

"He's got a lot of ability. We like that," said Bowles. "He's versatile, and can play free [safety] and he can play nickel. . . he can cover. I saw that he can hit in college off of his tape. We know he can hit, [it 's] just a matter of putting everything together mentally."

Haason Reddick snags... an interception??

The Bucs brought Reddick in with the hopes he can provide double-digit sacks for the first time since Shaquil Barrett recorded in 10.0 in 2021. He's had a good camp so far and has looked the part, which is good to see after last year's debacle in New York.

Per reports, he snagged an interception on Thursday and it was against No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward - it wasn't just a backup QB. He got the best of the guy who is the face of the Titans franchise.

Whether it's sacks or interceptions, the Bucs need Reddick to make a lot of big plays in 2025, so it's good to see him doing it against a team that's not wearing pewter and red.

In all, it was a fun day. Now, both teams' attention turns to Saturday's game that is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Bowles said after practice that we won't see many starters, which makes sense after they got a lot of good reps in against the Titans.
