Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Each year in late November, we commemorate a truly American holiday that is older than our nation’s founding. The fact that we celebrate it with food, family, friends and football only makes it more enjoyable. The Green Bay Packers are having another competitive season. Here are 10 things Packers fans have to be thankful for, 2025 edition.

Ten Things Packers Fans Have to Be Thankful For 2025 Edition, Number One: Lambeau Field

Lambeau Field hosted its first Packers game in 1957 when Dwight D. Eisenhower was President. In fact, then Vice President Richard Nixon was in attendance for the first game. Lambeau provides a unique experience for football fans. In fact, many fans of other teams have a visit to Lambeau on their bucket list. The sight lines are great and the experience from pre-game to post game remains unique.

The Packers have expanded and renovated Lambeau Field several times since it opened, but the experience remains special for Packers fans and football fans.

Number Two: The Team Is Fan Owned

The Packers are the only team in the four major North American pro sports that is community owned. Thousands of Packers fans own a share of the team. They get to vote for the board of directors.

It also means Packers fans don’t have to deal with difficult owners like Dallas’ Jerry Jones or former Washington owner Daniel Snyder. It creates a special bond between the team and the fans that cannot be duplicated elsewhere in sports.

Ten Things Packers Fans Have to Be Thankful For 2025 Edition, Number Three: Elite Quarterback Play

The Packers have had elite quarterback play for more than three decades now. Brett Favre arrived in 1992 and remained the quarterback through the end of the 2007 season. From 2008 until 2022, Aaron Rodgers provided the Packers elite quarterback play. Favre won three NFL MVPs and one Super Bowl, Rodgers won four and one title.

Since 2023, Jordan Love has taken over as the starter. So far, he has led the Pack to the playoffs two seasons in a row and has established himself as a top 10 quarterback in this league.

Few NFL teams get one elite quarterback in three decades; the Packers have had three. That’s definitely something to be thankful for.

Number Four: Micah Parsons

There are good players, star players and elite players. The Packers added an elite player before this season started when they acquired edge rusher Micah Parsons. Elite players make the players around them better and Parsons certainly fits that description. His impact has helped the entire Packers defense to be better.

Parsons has been the most impactful defensive player the Pack has had since Charles Woodson and Reggie White. I am thankful that we get to see this kind of player on a weekly basis in Green Bay.

Ten Things Packers Fans Have to Be Thankful For 2025 Edition, Number Five: The Titles

The Green Bay Packers have won 13 NFL championships in the team’s history with the first coming back in 1929. No other team has won more than nine.

Twice, the Packers have won three straight championships, from 1929-1931 and again from 1965-1967. No other franchise has accomplished that even once.  The rich history of the Green Bay Packers championship teams is something for fans to be thankful for.

Number Six: The Hall of Famers

There have been so many great players who are now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From more modern players like Favre, White, LeRoy Butler, and Woodson to early Packers like Curly Lambeau, Don Hutson, Cal Hubbard, and Johnny “Blood” McNally.

Then there are legends of the Lombardi Era like Bart Starr, Willie Davis, Paul Hornung, Jerry Kramer, Willie Wood, Herb Adderley, Jim Taylor, and Forrest Gregg.

Only one team has more former players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame than the Packers and that legacy is a great thing.

Ten Things Packers Fans Have to Be Thankful For 2025 Edition, Number Seven: The Lambeau Leap and Bicycle Rides

The Lambeau Leap started in 1993, and it has continued to the present day. Having the players leap into the stands in the end zone after scoring a touchdown creates a unique bond between the players and the fans.

Another great tradition takes place at training camp every year and dates back more than 60 years. The Packers players ride the bicycles of kids to and from practice, often creating a relationship with a particular child for the duration of camp. This tradition is pure Packers and again reinforces the strong relationship between the fans and the team. When a player rides your bicycle to and from practice throughout camp, you create special memories and a fan for life.

Number Eight: Packers Weather

While rivals like the Lions and Vikings now play indoors, the Packers still play outside on natural grass at Lambeau Field. There’s nothing like a cold, windy, or snowy day in November, December, or January.

Few opposing teams want to come to Lambeau during the second half of the season. It gives the home team an advantage and creates many great memories like the Ice Bowl or the 1985 snow game against Tampa Bay.

Ten Things Packers Fans Have to Be Thankful For 2025 Edition, Number Nine: Winning Football

The Packers have been a competitive and winning team for more than three decades now. Since 1992, the Pack has had only five losing seasons out of 33. They need one more win this year to add to that number. The Packers have also made the playoffs 24 times.

This era of consistent winning football is definitely something for Packers fans to be thankful for.

Number 10: Tailgating

The tailgating experience at Packers home games is part of what makes the Lambeau Field experience unique. While beers and brats are the first things you think of, there are a variety of food and drink choices available for fans.

The best part of it is how friendly Packers fans are while tailgating. Even fans of the visiting team are often invited to join in the festivities and strangers suddenly become your friend in the hours leading up to kickoff.

Packers fans really know how to tailgate and that’s something to be thankful for.

I am also personally thankful for everyone who takes the time to read my articles. Happy Thanksgiving and Go Pack Go.
