The 1-5 Tennessee Titans vs 5-1 Detroit Lions matchup in Week 8 is an intriguing matchup for the DFS scene for the NFL for the week. The Lions are coming off a huge division win over the Vikings last week, while the Titans got blown out by the Buffalo Bills. The Titans traded away DeAndre Hopkins this week to the Kansas City Chiefs, making some of the other weapons more viable. Jared Goff has been electric these last three games at the quarterback position and should continue this week leading into the start’ems of this game.
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in the Tennessee Titans vs Detroit Lions matchup. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.
St. Brown has found the end zone in four straight games and is coming off his best performance of the season against the Vikings where he had 8 receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown. Look for St. Brown to continue his touchdown streak against the Titans especially with Jameson Williams serving a two-game suspension for a PED violation.
Goff is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the league right now and the Titans have been a susceptible defense throughout the year thus far. I look for Detroit to dominate Tennessee in the run game opening the play-action pass for Goff, which will allow Goff to have a multiple-touchdown day at home in this matchup.
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in the Tennessee Titans vs Detroit Lions game.
The Titans run game is one of the things they have tried to establish all season long with the duo of Pollard and Tyjae Spears and have been successful with it at times this season thus far. Pollard has 400 yards so far this season. But in the matchup, Detroit is the 2nd best defense against running backs in fantasy according to both FanDuel and Draft Kings. So sit Pollard this week.
Ridley is the tempting play this weekend because of his budget on both platforms and Detroit is one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Plus with the Hopkins trade, Ridley should get more volume in the Titans’ offense but the game script won’t allow Tennessee to get the opportunities out of play action and have more regular dropbacks which means tighter coverage and more zone coverages. Sit Ridley this week.
Detroit Lions RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery (Gibbs: $7,400 Draft Kings, $8,400 FanDuel; Montgomery: $6,400 Draft Kings, $8,000 FanDuel)
Detroit will be running the football this weekend first and foremost and even though the Titans are the 9th-rated defense fantasy-wise against running backs this season, the Lions have the best offensive line in Football by far. So both Gibbs and Montgomery should have productive days at home against Tennessee no matter if it’s in the running game or the passing game. Look for Ben Johnson’s creativity to get both running backs opportunities in open space in this game.
Rudolph is likely in line to start with Will Levis still dealing with an AC joint injury he suffered against Miami a few weeks ago. And Rudolph has thrown for 300 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception relief thus far for Levis in two games. Look for Detroit to force Rudolph to throw the ball more as they shut down Pollard and Spears, allowing Brian Branch to snag a pick or maybe two in this game like last week against Minnesota.
Detroit should be able to handle Tennessee at home this week easily as Tennessee is fully committed to a rebuild at this point in the season. Gibbs and Montgomery will have huge games for Detroit and Goff will continue his hot streak passing when he needs to at times.
