Terrion Arnold makes decision on his NFL future

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold plans to sign a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old becomes the latest addition to the defending Super Bowl champions after working out for the team over the weekend.

Arnold, selected 24th overall by Detroit in the 2024 NFL Draft, was released by the Lions in late June following his arrest on eight felony charges. The charges, four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, stem from a February incident in the Tampa, Florida, area.

Prosecutors allege Arnold orchestrated a plot to detain and assault three men he believed had stolen cash and luxury items from him. He has denied the allegations through his representatives and pleaded not guilty. Arnold faces a potential life sentence if convicted. His next court date is a disposition hearing scheduled for October 5.

After clearing waivers, Arnold drew interest from multiple clubs. He worked out for the Houston Texans before visiting Seattle, then met with the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald described the visit as a “great tryout” and said the team was working through the surrounding circumstances.

Arnold is expected to compete for a role in Seattle’s secondary, potentially as a No. 3 corner behind Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe. The NFL could still place him on the commissioner’s exempt list while reviewing the case under the personal conduct policy, which would limit his participation until the legal matters are resolved.

In two seasons with the Lions, Arnold started 22 of 24 games, recording 91 tackles, 18 passes defended, and one interception.
