Terry McLaurin injury update: Adam Schefter offers the latest on Commanders WR’s chances to play

The Commanders could be short-handed on Sunday when they go down to play this weekend in the ATL. That’s namely so at quarterback to this point, but could now look to include Washington’s leading receiver in Terry McLaurin.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided the latest on McLaurin’s status on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday morning. Dealing with a quad issue coming out of Week 3 and having yet to practice so far this week, Schefter says Washington could be trending toward McLaurin being out against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

“In that same game, the Commanders look like they very well could be without Terry McLaurin, who suffered a quad injury on Sunday against the Raiders. Left the game, has been undergoing additional testing on that quad,” Schefter said. “Did not practice on Wednesday. If he doesn’t practice again today, that would tell you that this is certainly trending in a direction in which the Commanders are unlikely to have Terry McLaurin on Sunday.”

Among several names on Wednesday’s injury report for Washington was McLaurin, who did not practice. Jayden Daniels was also limited, dealing with a knee injury after missing last week’s win over Las Vegas, with Marcus Mariota playing in his place. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, the team’s leading rusher, was also listed and did not practice with a knee issue.

Even with Mariota throwing him the ball rather than Daniels, McLaurin had one of his better games this season in the victory over the Raiders. He posted three receptions for 74 yards, averaging nearly 25 yards per catch. That brings him to 10 catches for 149 yards on the season for the Commanders.

Thursday will be a key one in determining McLaurin’s actual status for this weekend against Atlanta. Practicing could have him ready to play, but being out again would likely have him in doubt for Washington.

Daniels injury update: Schefter reveals crucial factor in Commanders QB’s status

The Washington Commanders are hoping to get Jayden Daniels back this weekend. Nothing is set in stone, though, and now Adam Schefter has revealed that his ability to play on Sunday is going to be in the hands of his doctors, with no guarantee he plays unless he can get cleared medically.

“Back at practice yesterday in a limited fashion,” Schefter said on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday. “He said his knee feels better, but it will be a doctor’s decision about whether or not he plays on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. He’s leaving it in the hands of others. We’ll see what they say.”

“If he can’t go, Marcus Mariota would play again. And Marcus Mariota played very well on Sunday in the Commanders’ victory over the Raiders.”

Daniels would undergo an MRI on his knee following Washington’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night of Week 2. Ultimately, it turned out that he had a sprained knee. There had been some hope that he wouldn’t miss time at all, but that didn’t happen with the team choosing to play it safe. Now, his status continues to be up in the air.
