The Houston Texans announced that they have re-signed veteran defensive tackle Folorunso "Foley" Fatukasi, their team X (formerly Twitter) account posted on Tuesday morning.
To make room for Fatukasi on the roster, the team waived cornerback Gregory Junior. Junior joined the Texans' practice squad last season and was signed to a futures contract by the team in January.
Fatukasi joined the Texans last season after spending four seasons with the team that drafted him, the New York Jets, and then two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With the addition of Fatukasi, the Texans are now up to seven defensive tackles according to their depth chart. The team brought Sheldon Rankins in back in March and added him to an existing group that included Tim Settle and Mario Edwards Jr.
Settle posted a career year in his first season in the Space City. Across 11 starts for Houston, Settle had a career high 5.0 sacks and 31 combined tackles, along with 10 quarterback hits. Edwards also posted solid numbers for the Texans, finishing the season with 31 combined tackles and 3.0 sacks across 13 games.

Houston has a plethora of experience at the position, with the Fatukasi bringing a strong run block skill to the Texans. According to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, he posted a 4.8% run stuff rate in 2024, highest on the team.
Fatukasi missed parts of the latter portion of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury, but he was able to return in time for the Texans playoff run. Across the two games Houston appeared in, Fatukasi posted 3 tackles, including a tackle for loss in their wild card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
With a group of defensive tackles rich in experience, it will be interesting to see how the group develops throughout mandatory minicamp and on into training camp.
