Veteran Houston Chronicle NFL reporter John McClain may very well be the most respected Houston Texans insider working today, and his body of work suggests he'd know if the Texans are truly serious about keeping wantaway quarterback Deshaun Watson through the offseason or are merely attempting to land an offer for the disgruntled 25-year-old they can't refuse.
Amid rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles could pursue Watson and send Jalen Hurts to Houston in a potential trade, some may feel as if McClain dropped a bombshell of a tweet on Wednesday.
The Texans haven’t said they’re not trading Watson since January. I expect him to be traded.

As noted by author and podcast host Gary Myers, the New York Jets should also pay attention to this latest development.
I often think @McClain_on_NFL knows more about what's going on with the Texans than the Texans. Nobody covers their team better than John. If he says Watson is going to be traded, the Jets better be paying attention. https://t.co/LMPRRqphAw

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is reportedly interested in acquiring out-of-favor Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, which leads one to believe there is a market out there for the third pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Jets could also send Houston the second selection of this year's draft, among other assets, for Watson, who is under contract through 2025.
