Heading into Week 8 of the NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings were the unexpected lone-undefeated team. But now, the 1972 Miami Dolphins can pop their champagne once again, as there will be no undefeated Super Bowl champion this year after the Lions 19-15 win.
The Vikings defense held out for a while, but eventually the Jahmyr Gibbs-dam broke as he ran for a 30-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Jameson Williams added a seven-yard touchdown catch to put the Lions ahead for good.
About halfway through the season, Gibbs is putting together a case for Offensive Player of the Year. Through just seven games, the fourth-year pro already has 773 rushing yards, eight touchdowns and has rushed for a league-high 50 first downs. He’s also caught 34 passes for 285 yards and two more touchdowns.
With the Vikings finally losing their first game of the season, the NFC North is looking like perhaps the most competitive division in the NFL. All four teams are above .500, and if the season ended today they would all be in the NFC playoff field.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Gibbs is well on his way for yet another 1,000-rushing-yard, 500-receiving-yard season, something he’s already done twice in his young career. With that being said, can you name the NFL players with at least two such seasons to their credit?
Good luck!
