With less than a week remaining before their Week 1 clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Atlanta Falcons had yet to name their starting quarterback.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski has finally made a decision , with the team announcing that newcomer Tua Tagovailoa will take the team’s first snaps in Pittsburgh.
With incumbent Michael Penix Jr. still working his way back from yet another injury that cost him the final seven games of last season, Stefanski is rolling with the player who had a more complete – if not exactly confidence-inspiring – training camp for his first game as Falcons head coach.
Tagovailoa is entering his seventh professional season but first outside of Miami, where he played 14 games for the 7-10 Dolphins who promptly cleared house following the season. Tua missed at least three games in each of the last two seasons, combining for just 5,527 yards, 39 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in the two seasons since he led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards in 2023.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. If Patrick Mahomes plays as expected Week 1 for the Chiefs, every team has settled on their Week 1 starting quarterback for the 2026 NFL season. How many of them can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
