The 2028 NFL Draft is coming to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the NFL confirmed on Tuesday.
The draft has evolved into one of the biggest annual events on the NFL calendar, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans to the draft and events around it. Wendy Blackshaw, president and CEO of Minnesota Sports & Events (MNSE), estimates that the draft will bring $100 to $200 million in economic impact.
That's a similar figure to estimates from VisitPittsburgh around the 2026 NFL Draft, which drew more than 800,000 fans according to official estimates.
"Minnesota knows how to show up for big moments, and we've seen it firsthand," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says. "This is a market that delivers at the highest level. Working with the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Sports and Events, we look forward to bringing the 2028 NFL Draft to this great community, driving positive economic impact throughout the region, and hosting an incredible experience for fans and the next generation of the NFL."
In addition to the draft at the Vikings' stadium, events will take place around downtown Minneapolis for multiple days, including the NFL Draft Theater, NFL Draft Experience, a fan festival, live entertainment, and more.
"This is an extraordinary moment for Minnesota and a testament to what can happen when organizations, partners and community leaders come together behind a shared vision," Blackshaw says. “The NFL Draft is one of the biggest and most impactful events in sports, and we are incredibly honored the NFL has entrusted Minnesota with this opportunity."

The NFL began rotating draft cities in 2015, giving a different metro area the chance to host the event. Washington, D.C. will follow Pittsburgh in 2027 before the draft arrives in Minneapolis.
MNSE's economic impact estimate places the NFL Draft between the $450 million it says was generated by Super Bowl LII and the $71.5 million that was generated by the Twin Cities jointly hosting the IIHF World Junior Championship this winter.
The NFL Draft is typically held in late April.
