The '35-passing-TD NFL seasons' quiz

Happy 28th birthday to two-time Pro Bowler, 2020 sixth-overall NFL draft pick and 2020 AP Offensive Player of the Year, Justin Herbert!

Herbert started his career as the backup (but obvious heir) to Tyrod Taylor, but was thrust into action early on after team doctors punctured Taylor’s lung during a pregame injection. It turned out the Oregon product was ready, throwing for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns in 15 starts as a rookie despite going 6-9. 

The six-year veteran has been a steady presence for the Chargers (missing just five combined games since taking over for Taylor in 2020)  and he’s been one of the most statistically productive QBs in the NFL over that time. But so far in his tenure he’s 0-3 in the postseason with back-to-back poor performances, tossing four interceptions in the 2025 Wild Card loss to the Texans before racking up just 159 yards without a touchdown in 2026 against New England. 

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Herbert’s best regular season came in 2021, when he eclipsed the 5,000-passing-yard milestone with a career-high 38 touchdowns. With that being said, how many of the NFL quarterbacks to throw for at least 35 TDs in a season can you name in six minutes?
