The '4,500-yard, 15-INT NFL seasons' quiz

Heading into the 2026 regular season, all signs pointed to Baker Mayfield playing out the final year of his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without an extension. Then, while he was watching the movie "Cars," he got a call that changed that.

Mayfield and Tampa Bay agreed to a three-year, $165 million contract extension with $110M guaranteed. Baker is the second high-profile contract the Bucs were able to work out ahead of the campaign after reaching an agreement with Vita Vea following his trade request in training camp. 

After winning the NFC South in their first two seasons with Mayfield under center, Tampa finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs on a tie-breaker with the Carolina Panthers last year. Individually, Baker had his least productive season as a Buc, but was still a solid NFL quarterback. He threw for 3,693 yards and 26 touchdowns last season while cutting down on his league-leading 16 interceptions in 2024 to 11 in 2025.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Mayfield is one of the more “Boom or Bust,” quarterbacks in the NFL, seemingly as likely to make a devastating error as he is a miraculous play. Perhaps no season showcased this more than 2024, when he threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns to go with his NFL-most 16 picks.
