The Washington Commanders need to push forward after a rough loss against the Chicago Bears, and there are still a lot of questions that remain with this team.
One of the biggest storylines continues to be injuries, especially in the wide receiver room with Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown. Quarterback Jayden Daniels looks like he will have to carry the load every week, and the team needs to give him as much help as possible.
The Commanders have a chance to sign a former first-round pick at wide receiver with Treylon Burks visiting Washington on Wednesday.
The wide receiver position has been a problem for the Commanders since McLaurin and Brown both got hurt. McLaurin has missed the last three games, and Brown has missed the last four, but luckily Deebo Samuel and Luke McCaffrey have picked up the slack. The Commanders need as much help as possible, and Treylon Burks could be a low-risk, high-reward signing like Drake Jackson.
After a visit to the #Broncos today, source says Treylon Burks is visiting the #Commanders tomorrow. An interesting potential addition. https://t.co/xPa82OwAyX

McLaurin should be coming back against the Cowboys, but it's not a guarantee yet, and Brown seems like a lost cause at this point with the injuries adding up. The Commanders desperately need younger players on the team, and Burks is still only 25. Burks was selected two picks after the Commanders took Jahan Dotson in 2022, and his time with the Tennessee Titans just didn't work out.
I wouldn't write Burks off just yet, and maybe he was doomed to fail by the Titans, who have their own dysfunction, and they didn't have a quarterback until they drafted Cam Ward this offseason. Burks was on the Titans' IR after breaking his collarbone during training camp, and the team just released him on October 7th, and he's been medically cleared. He has a history of injuries, so it could be a risk, but the upside is there, and we know Daniels can bring out the best in any wide receiver.
Is there still one last chance for Treylon Burks to become a starting WR for the Titans? #TitanUp pic.twitter.com/T0Zg1eMuAa

The Commanders need to keep drafting wide receivers, or possibly trade for one that could be available at the deadline, but signing a player like Burks for a low risk could be the kind of payoff they need. There's nothing wrong with taking swings on a player without losing draft capital, and you never know, Burks could end up reviving his career like other players around the league have.
