The Denver Broncos Have Reignited Their Championship Flame

For every Super Bowl-winning offense is a defense that brought their team to victory.

Take Seattle’s 2013 Legion of Boom, dominating Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Or, look at the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 with Ray Lewis, breaking records and hearts around the league. Or even last year, the Eagles gave us one of the best defensive performances in Super Bowl history.

The old adage remains true: defense wins games. For Denver, it may very well be the key to winning another Super Bowl this year.

Denver’s Defense is Unimaginably Good

A defense that leads the league in pressures, Nik Bonitto is fueling this terrifying defensive-line operation. Having already accumulated seven sacks through week 5, Bonitto has the second most in franchise history behind Elvis Dumervil.

A terror for opposing quarterbacks, Bonitto is the standout player on a defense that is the second-best in the league for points per game at 16.8. Not only this, but Denver leads the league in opponent’s red zone TD scoring percentage, at only 28.57%. Combine this with their ability to cause offenses to self-destruct, forcing opposing teams to commit a staggering 9.4 penalties a game.

Not forgetting the Broncos’ shaky offensive start that caused their defense to stay on the field far too often, consider what this defense would be statistically if their offense stayed in rhythm.

J.K. Dobbins Elevates His Game

Becoming the first 100-yard rusher in a game in 37 games, J.K. Dobbins continues to shine and impress. With his ability to burst through gaps for quick yardage and explosive speed capability, Dobbins is the star the Broncos have longed for.

Having an elite presence at running back is vital to keep pressure off of Bo Nix and enables your playbook in every category. Fifth in the league in rushing yards, Dobbins has accumulated 402 yards on 5.2 yards per attempt.

Not only this, Dobbins is projected to finish the season above 1,000 rushing yards, a feat the Broncos have not had since 2019 with Philip Lindsay. Dobbins was elite in college, and now he finally has emerged as an elite running back in the NFL.

If Dobbins continues his success, the Broncos have all the pieces they need in their path to the Super Bowl.

Broncos’ Fiery Comeback Paves the Way

If their resilient defense wasn’t enough, Denver’s victory over the Eagles on Sunday proved the haters wrong. Not only do they need a menacing defense and electrifying offense, but the Broncos must also have a fiery passion to fight for four quarters.

Sometimes, all the talent in the world can’t win a single game if they don’t have the spirit and chemistry needed to succeed. Remember the Jets of last year? Not to base their entire season off of a lack of passion, the Jets struggled to show the will or desire to fight for their brothers to the very end.

When solid leadership, coaching, and team chemistry are present, you have a Super Bowl-winning formula. To being down 17-3 longer than you thought possible and still winning the game? That speaks of grit.

Often a game of inches, football comes down to the wire; it seems like this Broncos team will win their games in the trenches, and that’s perfectly okay.
