The Dolphins Sign Cornerback Marco Wilson

The Miami Dolphins have signed cornerback Marco Wilson to a 1 year contract. The Fort Lauderdale native joins TuTu Atwell as the Florida-born players signing to the team today. Wilson played his college football at the University of Florida.

Marco Wilson was selected in the 4th round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Entering his 4th collegiate campaign, Wilson was widely regarded as a top 50 player in the 2021 draft class after tallying 3 interceptions and flashing athleticism on his previous year’s film.

After a lackluster season and an unsportsmanlike penalty that cost the Gators a win versus LSU, it seemed like Wilson would not get much of a shot in the pros. The Cardinals took a swing at him in round 4, and he was a starter for the team in his first 2 seasons. Knowing he had issues with penalties in man coverage, they decided to give Wilson a chance due to his impressive athletic ability

Wilson recorded 3 interceptions, 14 pass deflections, and 3 forced fumbles as a starter in 2021 and 2022. After a rough start to his third season, he was shipped off to the New England Patriots, where his role was instantly decreased on defense. He spent half of 2024 with the Patriots before moving on to the Bengals, where he’d play a very small amount of snaps. In the last 2 seasons, Wilson has played just over 50 defensive snaps.

The 27-year-old will now head to the Dolphins to compete for a spot in a thin cornerback room. Wilson’s athleticism is an advantage on any team, as he will try to prove he is worth a roster spot. His experience with the Cardinals is also very impressive, being a player who finds the football and causes turnovers.

He joins Lonnie Johnson, Darrell Baker, Alex Austin, and Zayne Anderson as additions to the defensive back room. Wilson has the most starting experience out of any cornerback the Dolphins have signed so far this offseason.
