The Giants may have a sneaky trick up their sleeve regarding a recent draft pick, but Dan Quinn is ready for anything on Sunday

The Washington Commanders are ready to make a statement against the New York Giants on Sunday as they kick off the season, but sometimes things get weird in Week 1, like we've already seen.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has been preparing the team for another run at the Super Bowl this season, and you can't afford to take a loss to open the season, especially against an NFC East team. You never know what Giants head coach Brian Daboll has up his sleeve, and Quinn is ready for anything, including a shocking and bold move.

Would the Giants really do that?

Daboll's coaching seat could get hot if the season goes south once again, and they need to see wins or progress early on to keep him safe. The one thing that Daboll has in his back pocket is that the team drafted Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick after trading up to get him. Dart showed in the preseason that he may be ready sooner rather than later.

Dianna Russini from The Athletic wrote an article that mentions how Quinn has been preparing the team for the slight chance that Dart could actually see some playing time on Sunday.

"Russell Wilson is the starter, and he has the confidence of his teammates and coaches. But that hasn’t stopped the Washington Commanders from preparing for rookie Jaxson Dart entering Week 1. This past week, the Washington defense schemed for both quarterbacks — just in case Daboll decides to give the rookie some live action. We might not actually see Dart on Sunday, but the Giants have been throwing everything at him, treating him almost like a starter." via Dianna Russini, The Athletic

Russell Wilson is the obvious starter at quarterback, but we can all agree that Dart has the higher ceiling and could be the answer for the future. How long do you keep him off the field if he could be the quarterback that gets you the most wins?

It would be wild to see the Giants actually put Dart in, because it would be risky to switch quarterbacks and mess up any kind of rhythm. It's not like Dart would be a running quarterback option who could come in on certain packages; he would just be the actual quarterback.

I don't think the Giants will bring Dart into the game unless things just get really ugly, but even then, their starting left tackle, Andrew Thomas, is expected to be out, and it would be a trainwreck. It's reassuring to know that Quinn has been thinking of literally every possibility, though, and he's ready for things to get wild in Week 1.
