New York Giants fans have been waiting to find out what the injury status is for star offensive tackle Andrew Thomas before their Week 2 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Thomas' health situation is complicated, and the Giants haven't given much clarity. It's been established that the team is trying to be as patient as possible with his recovery from the foot injury he sustained last year. However, last week against the Washington Commanders only accentuated the team's offensive line problem.
Offensively, the team was a complete mess in their 21-6 loss, a game in which they scored no touchdowns. Additionally, they only mustered a measly 231 total yards of offense. They also struggled to run the ball, as Russell Wilson led the team in rushing, primarily through scrambles, with 44 yards. Running back Tyrone Tracy finished with 24 yards and averaged 2.4 yards per carry.
The man who should be the most worried is Wilson. Against the Commanders, he was sacked twice, but that doesn't fully illustrate how incapable the Giants were of protecting him.
The Giants' offensive line allowed 22 pressures to the Commanders and a 48.9% pressure rate on 45 dropbacks. He also only had an average of 2.69 seconds to throw.
Finding a solution to their offensive line isn't something that can be resolved overnight in Week 1. There aren't exactly any quality options out there that are unsigned. Obviously, the Giants getting back their Pro Bowl caliber tackler is the only way to boost the unit. Sadly, the lack of progress suggests that it might not happen anytime soon.
Overall, Thomas' recovery should be done patiently, without allowing early-season problems to rush the process. However, it's concerning that Thomas still isn't fully ready to go, with the most glaring issue for the team being their offensive line.
