There's been no shortage of speculation on whether or not the Miami Dolphins would send out any veterans ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline after a slow start to the 2025 season. Miami, which split with general manager Chris Grier this weekend after a Thursday night loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9, saw a flurry of reports emerge over the weekend that only fueled the speculation, setting expectations that Miami would be looking to acquire assets.
Interim general manager Champ Kelly has struck his first deal. The Dolphins are trading Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The pass rush room was supposed to be the strength of the defense and the spine of the unit. But Miami has not played effectively enough on first downs this season, and far too much game clock has been spent trailing on the scoreboard.
As a result, Miami's horses in the pass rush have not taken over games — it's a grand experiment that fell flat amid a revamped secondary and a young interior line.
This unit has improved significantly through the first two months of the season, but they'll now need to further acclimate their rotation, as they bid farewell to one of their staples in the room.
After falling to 2-7, this went from a speculative talking point to an expected domino. The biggest question now is if it will be the only shoe to drop before the Tuesday deadline.
