Happy 54th birthday to eight-time Pro Bowler, three-time First Team All-Pro honoree, Super Bowl XLI champion and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016, Marvin Harrison!
The Indianapolis Colts selected Harrison with the 19th pick in the 1996 NFL Draft out of Syracuse, where his 2,728 career receiving-yards were a school record until 2017. As a rookie, he started 15 games and caught 64 passes for 836 yards and eight touchdowns. While he was a serviceable wide receiver for Indy in his first three years, he really broke out as a star in 1999, when he led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,663 and a then-career-high 12 TDs.
That was the first of eight-consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and the first of two campaigns he’d finish as the league’s leading receiver. He made his lone Super Bowl appearance in 2006 against the Bears in Super Bowl XLI, catching five Peyton Manning passes for 59 yards in the 29-17 victory.
Harrison played his entire career with the Colts, retiring after 2008 with 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns on 1,102 receptions in his 13-year tenure, all of which are Indianapolis franchise records. He now has a son in the NFL, who is entering his third season with the Arizona Cardinals after a decorated career at Ohio State.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Harrison isn’t just the Colts all-time receiving leader, he also ranks ninth all-time amongst all NFL receivers. With that being said, can you name the players to rack up the most receiving yards in NFL history.
Good luck!
