The 'NFL franchise receiving-leaders' quiz

Happy 47th birthday to five-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro, 2005 AP Comeback Player of the Year and Carolina Panthers all-time leading receiver, Steve Smith Sr.!

Smith Sr. was selected in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft out of Utah and after playing a bit role as a rookie receiver in Charlotte with 154 yards on 10 receptions, but was named First-Team All-Pro for his efforts as a returner – scoring three touchdowns (one on a punt return, two off of kickoffs).

By 2003, he’d established himself as a key cog in the Panthers offense. At 24 years old, he recorded his first of eight 1,000-yard seasons while also catching seven touchdowns and helping the Panthers reach Super Bowl XXXVIII. He caught four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Tom Brady and Co.

His 2004 season was cut short by a broken leg in the season opener, but in 2005 he returned to lead the NFL in receptions (103), receiving yards (1,563)  and touchdown catches (12) to earn Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Smith Sr. would play 13 seasons in Carolina, signing with the Ravens after the Panthers didn’t want to retain his services after the 2013 campaign. Known for his fiery personality and holding grudges, he went off in his one game against the Panthers, catching seven passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns at 35 years old.

The Los Angeles native hung up his cleats after the 2016 season, finishing his career with 14,731 yards and 81 touchdowns on 1,031 receptions in 219 games.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Smith’s Carolina record of 12,197 receiving-yards as a Panther should be safe for the foreseeable future, with tight end Ian Thomas being the closest active player with 1,062 to his name. With that being said, can you name the all-time leading receiver for each NFL franchise?

Good luck!
