The NFL's players aren't the only ones receiving equipment upgrades in 2025.
On Monday Sony, makers of the headsets that all coaches wear on the sidelines, announced an all-new design set to debut this season in collaboration with the league, its coaches and supporting staffs.
According to the company, the new headsets have noise canceling technology that was tested against real crowd noise exceeding 100 dBs and they were also weather-tested to work in extreme temperatures and precipitation.
The headsets feature a custom-built microphone that isolates the coach's voice and automatically mutes when lifted — which drew rave reviews from Green Bay's Matt LaFleur who was involved in the testing process.
"As a head coach, communication to my staff and players is everything. Sony took the time to understand exactly what we need— from clarity in noisy environments, to comfort and reliability when the pressure is highest," LaFleur shared in a statment.
"This headset took all factors of the game into consideration, and I am looking forward to being able to rely on them during the game throughout this season and beyond."
The new designs were also reportedly given test runs in select matchups last season but this year they'll be worn by all coaches in all games.
In addition Sony's new headsets "underwent extensive drop testing against the physical demands of the sidelines," in order to ensure they can stand up heightened emotions of the game.
"We spent a lot of time with Sony and, critically, taking in a lot of input from coaches on what exactly they need," the NFL's Tracie Rodburg said. "These headsets were really put through the paces."
