Following two strong seasons, San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings somewhat surprisingly continues to be a free agent.
Spotrac projects his market value at $22.6M, and while that might be too steep, it's still odd to see that no team has come even close to meeting that asking price.
However, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated believes he's an "ideal fit" for the Las Vegas Raiders.
In his latest column, he wondered why Jennings hadn't been signed yet, adding that he might be waiting for the right change after the NFL Draft.
"It’s puzzling that a productive playmaker with a willingness to block hasn’t found a home yet. He turns 29 in July, but maybe there’s more to this story," Breer wrote. "...And maybe the former 49ers standout isn’t willing to play at a bargain price and would rather wait for better opportunities after the draft."
The Raiders certainly have a need for playmaking wide receivers. Even if Kirk Cousins starts the season as the starter over presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, they could use more help in the wide receiver corps.
Star tight end Brock Bowers will most likely be the focal point of the passing game, with Jalen Nailor next in the pecking order.
Adding a strong possession receiver like Jennings to the mix can help Klint Kubiak's team keep the chains in motion, and he's already more than familiar with him after facing him twice a season in the NFC West.
Jennings may have no choice but to lower his asking price at some point, but with fewer options left, the Raiders certainly look like a strong fit.
