There's Speculation Denver Broncos Will Sign Aaron Rodgers

If Aaron Rodgers returns for the 2026 season, there's no guarantee he'll be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers were hoping to receive an answer from Rodgers prior to the NFL Draft last Thursday. Unfortunately for the front office in Pittsburgh, it's still a mystery if the four-time MVP will retire or come back for another season. With that being said, the Steelers have opted to use the UFA tender on Rodgers.

If Rodgers signs with another team, the Steelers will have the right to receive a compensatory draft pick. They'll also have exclusive negotiating rights if he fails to sign with another team by July 22.

Shortly after the Steelers placed this tender on Rodgers, the Denver Broncos revealed that Bo Nix has undergone a clean-up procedure on his fractured right ankle, which he suffered in the divisional round of the playoffs.

“For Broncos QB Bo Nix, having a follow-up cleanup procedure after a fractured ankle is not rare or unexpected and he’s still expected to be ready for the season,” NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said. “That said, don’t be surprised if the team takes it very easy with him this spring.”

Even though Nix is expected to be ready for Week 1, the Broncos are being mentioned as a suitor for Rodgers.

"Bo Nix injury and recovery is worse than originally feared," Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan said. "Now the Steelers are worried Aaron Rodgers might weigh an offer from the Broncos. Thus the tender offer yesterday to protect themselves in the event he leaves them high and dry."

"If the Broncos are somehow interested in Aaron Rodgers that would be the team that makes the most sense for him to sign with," Blitzburgh wrote on X.

"Denver has to go sign Aaron Rodgers," one fan commented.

"Aaron Rodgers to the Broncos is currently VERY much in play," another fan declared.

This isn't the first time Rodgers has been linked to Denver.

Earlier this month, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that Rodgers is on Denver's radar.

“There’s talk of the Broncos possibly bringing Rodgers in for a visit,” Florio said. “The motivation comes from the possibility that current starter Bo Nix won’t be fully and completely back to 100 percent when Week 1 rolls around.”

Now that Nix has undergone an additional surgery, the rumors involving Rodgers and the Broncos will only get louder.

Rodgers proved last season that he can still play at an efficient level, completing 66.5% of his passes for 3,327 yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions. It'd be interesting to see what he can do in Sean Payton's offense.
